Dear College Student,

Congratulations! You are in college!!! What a wonderful place to be! Many people your own age would like to be in college but do not have the opportunity to attend. You are blessed! Do you feel blessed?

You are in a place that can help prepare you for a great professional career. Most colleges have the organization, professional personnel and equipment to provide the complex and intricate components of information (facts, concepts, formulae, research, and training) and learning that are necessary to prepare you for a productive professional career. Will you allow yourself to be prepared?

College is NOT about getting a grade or "passing" a course. It is about learning and becoming PROFESSIONAL. The available body of information is vast and you have to study, be consistent, be committed, be disciplined and avoid the pitfalls of negative peer pressure as well as the defeating foes of laziness and procrastination. You CAN do it!! Yes, you can! You are paying for your education (or someone is paying for it). Make sure you get your money's worth! Find out about all of the (applicable) available help programs and departments that are a part of your college. VISIT the offices of the help programs and departments. Inquire about their services. Ask them to explain what they do. Find out how they can help you. Seek and accept appropriate help. GET YOUR MONEY's WORTH!! Find out about EVERY applicable tutoring program your college has. More than likely you will have a department adviser. Get as much helpful information as you can (from your adviser). On some campuses it may be difficult arranging meetings with advisors. Go to the office of the department chairman and ask for help. The office of the department chairman will (more than likely) provide assistance in your efforts to successfully arrange meetings with your advisor.
